One of the four ancient Inns of Court

Middle Temple Hall is where the first performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night has taken place in 1602. To this day, the building remains unchanged, having survived the Great Fire of London in 1666 and both World Wars.

Middle Temple Hall is a historic building that hosts The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. The society is one of the four Inns of Court (aside Inner Temple, Gray’s Inn and Lincoln’s Inn) exclusively entitled to call their members to the English Bar as barristers.

Inn’s student barristers are required to dine at the Middle Temple Hall for a minimum number of nights for several terms. Day visitors may join the students, barristers and Bench members for lunch in the Hall.
