The area made up of two hills in the center of the city
Twin Peaks refers to the almost identical hills located at the center of the city. Due to its location, it provides one of the best panoramic views of the city. At an elevation of 922 feet, the top offers great sightseeing, while its lower portion is a residential area with bright hillside houses.
Twin Peaks is also home to the Summit Reservoir that provides drinking water, water to local fire departments, and a much needed water source to the area’s birds. The undeveloped portion of Twin Peaks is preserved by the Natural Areas Program (NAP) and is home to many species of wildlife. It is also only one of three areas that provides a home to the endangered Mission Blue Butterfly.
The best view of San Francisco from above, dusk is the best time as the city below starts to glow.
